In de maand juni is de hele collectie Bruichladdich met een korting van maar liefst 10% te verkrijgen.
Tevens voor vaderdag zijn er verschillende miniatuurflesjes te koop, voor als vader geen keuze kan maken welke whisky hij graag wilt hebben.
Vanaf 20 juni is er een whisky veiling en kan er op verschillende flessen whisky geboden worden, de fles gaat naar de uiteindelijk hoogste bieder.

New Balvenie Tun 1401
Whilst The Balvenie Distillery retains traditional production techniques, Malt Master David Stewart continues to innovate. David has recently been experimenting with different casks of The Balvenie from rare aged stocks, with the intention of creating a special marriage.
David says This new expression, which Ive named Tun 1401 after the tun in which the chosen casks are married, will be complex. It should display richness and spice, sweetness and vanilla, with a hint of citrus that you get from the older casks .
Back in late April six casks were hand-selected by David and brought together to marry in Warehouse 24 ~ creating what will be a first for The Balvenie. The casks selected span 22 years in age, the oldest being a cask from 1966 and the youngest from 1988. It will also feature Balvenie matured in Sherry casks, as well as American oak barrels.
Early indications are that Batch One of The Balvenie Tun 1401 will be bottled early in August 2010 and will, initially, only be available in the shop at the distillery.

Een krat met Schotse whisky, dat meer dan een eeuw zat vastgevroren in het ijs van Antarctica, wordt in een museum in Nieuw-Zeeland langzaam ontdooid. Niet om te proeven, maar om te analyseren. Het krat werd in januari 2010 uit het ijs geborgen. Het lag met nog vier kratten whisky en brandy onder de vloer van een hut die door de Britse avonturier Sir Ernest Shackleton in 1908 was gebouwd.
De andere vier kratten zijn in het ijs achtergelaten. Volgens de directeur van het Nieuw-Zeelandse en Antarctische erfgoedfonds is de whisky nog steeds vloeibaar. " Toen de jongens het optilden, zeiden ze geklotst te hebben gehoord en er hing een whisky-geur in de vriezer," zei hij.
De Schotse distilleerderij Whyte & Mackay, die tegenwoordig in het bezit is van de merknaam Mackinlay - het merk whisky dat in het krat zat -, lanceerde de operatie om het krat uit het ijs op te diepen. Het bedrijf wil de whisky analyseren en het oude merk eventueel opnieuw op de markt brengen.
De whisky wordt nu heel langzaam ontdooid om hem niet bloot te stellen aan grote temperatuursverschillen, iedere dag gaat de temperatuur met een paar tienden graden omhoog, net zolang het boven nul is.
Master blender Richard Paterson is de aangewezen persoon om de whisky te analyseren en proberen te reproduceren.

DH17 opent 4e winkel in Bergen op Zoom
Begin september 2010 wordt de 4e winkel van DH17 geopent aan de Olympialaan 2 te Bergen op Zoom. Op dit moment zijn ze druk bezig het pand te verbouwen om zo in september de deuren te kunnen openen als een van de mooiste dranken speciaalzaken van Nederland.
Met ongeveer 1000 soorten whisky, 100 soorten rum, 50 soorten cognac, en ca. 800 soorten wijn. Ter ere van de opening van de winkel in september a.s. zullen zij 2 gratis proeverijen organiseren voor alle geοnteresseerden.
Ιιn gedistilleerd-proeverij, op woensdagavond 22 september. En ιιn wijnproefavond op donderdagavond 30 september. Voor beide proeverijen geldt een maximum aantal deelnemers van 50. Kijk voor meer informatie over data en bestellen van kaarten bij ' proeverijen '.

The Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength, has been given a new look 40 years after it was first bottled.J. & G. Grant launched the new bottling design at the Imbibe trade show in London on Wednesday. The new presentation incorporates a bespoke 700ml bottle and contemporary repeat 105 pattern. Glenfarclas 105 refers to the strength in the British Proof system, equivalent to 60% alcohol by volume.
It is this strength and its colourful past that it has endeared it to whisky lovers around the globe. It was entered into the Guinness Book of World Record in the 1970s as the world's strongest commercially available whisky.At one point, its makers were also forced to produce a lower strength version so that it could be sold within the US.
In 1968 George S. Grant, fourth generation of the owning family, bottled a single cask straight from the warehouse, and sent the bottles to family and friends as Christmas gifts. By chance the strength of the cask George S. Grant selected was 105 British Proof, and along with the name of the distillery, this was all the information he detailed on the hand written label. By the end of January the recipients of the gifts requested further bottles, hence Glenfarclas 105, the first commercially available cask strength whisky of the modern age was born.
Whilst the presentation has given the 105 a contemporary twist, the company continue to produce Glenfarclas 105 in the same traditional manner, by selecting some of the finest casks from the distillerys warehouses, and vatting them together to give a constant 60% vol., without adding water. George Grant, Director of Sales and sixth generation, added, The 105 has a great history, and this new presentation gives the 105 a great future.

Eind september begin oktober is het weer tijd voor onze whiskytrail, hier kan je zien wat er al geregeld is en wat nog geregeld moet worden. Het huis waar we verblijven is ieder geval bekend, dat is hetzelfde huis als waar we in 2008 ons kamp opgeslagen hadden. De rest is nog open, heeft iemand tips?
